"We want to build an open, transparent, inclusive, barrier-free public service with equal opportunities. An important aspect of this is the involvement of young professionals. For the state, this is a matter of personnel rejuvenation, efficiency of the public administration system, and effectiveness of public policy," said Nataliia Aliushyna, Head of the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service, during the all-Ukrainian roundtable "Youth Rights and Civil Service: Reforming the Institution of Career".

To attract young people to the civil service, the NAUCS offers various mechanisms to promote civil service and career development, including at the legislative level. 

"The NAUCS has a practice of holding Promo Days in the civil service. Doors Open Days in the state institutions are also very popular. Today, every young person can try his or her hand at civil service by completing an internship at any state body or by joining specialized personal development programs supported by government agencies. For example, such a program as "State Builder", -  Nataliia Aliushyna noted.

In 2019-2022, 18 people completed internships at the NAUCS. Six young professionals have been practicing in various structural departments of the NAUCS since the beginning of the year.  

The Head of the NAUCS also advised young people to pay attention to professional development and growth. Today, there are many tools and opportunities for this. For example, educational series. The Diia.Osvita portal has an educational series called "Public Service". This is a new series for those who are interested in the activities of the government in Ukraine. The course was developed on the initiative of the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program in Ukraine and with the assistance of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine with financial support from the governments of Denmark, Sweden and Switzerland. 

"The NAUCS is doing everything to ensure that the modern civil service is open to new ideas, modern technologies and innovations. In my opinion, this is the way to develop the capacity of government agencies that are working to restore Ukraine and will adequately represent Ukraine in the international space. Youth is the most powerful strategic resource and intellectual potential of the country", - said Natalia Aliushyna.
