The NAUCS hosted a working meeting with representatives of the Regional Council of Île-de-France. The focus was on professional training, development of managerial skills, and preparing Ukrainian civil servants to work within the framework of European integration.
Cédric Guillon-Lavocat, Director of the Department of European and International Strategies at the Île-de-France Regional Council, and Etienne Arjakovsky, a representative of the Île-de-France Regional Council, participated in the meeting.
Parties discussed opportunities for cooperation in the field of professional development for civil servants and local government officials. In particular, they focused on the exchange of expertise in the training of managerial personnel, the devising of up-to-date training programmes, and the strengthening of the practical component of professional training.
Particular attention was paid to training on European integration. The participants emphasised that, for Ukraine as it moves towards EU membership, it is important to systematically enhance civil servants’ knowledge of European policies, EU law, the negotiation process and the practical aspects of implementing European standards in public administration.
During the meeting, parties also discussed opportunities for further dialogue on training programmes, the exchange of expertise, and learning from the Île-de-France Region’s experience in the field of professional training. Such cooperation is important for the development of a system of continuous professional development for civil servants in Ukraine.
The Île-de-France Regional Council is the main governing body of the region, which encompasses Paris and its vicinity. Its fields of activity include education, economic development, innovation, transport, culture and professional training. The Île-de-France region also consistently supports Ukraine, in particular through partnership initiatives and reconstruction assistance.
The meeting marked another step towards expanding international cooperation in professional development. For the NAUCS, this presents an opportunity to enhance the quality of training for civil servants, draw on European experience and implement measures that will promote professionalism, efficiency and the civil service’s readiness for Ukraine’s European integration.
