How to expand the potential of cooperation between public servants and veterans and form a decent culture of their employment in the public service after serving in the military - this was discussed during a meeting of the Head of the NAUCS Nataliia Aliushyna with representatives of the Charitable Foundation ‘Veteran Hub++’ and the International Project IREX (International Research & Exchanges Board). The parties discussed ways of social adaptation of veterans and their professional and psychological preparation for public service.
‘Psychological rehabilitation, psychosocial support, professional adaptation - a comprehensive approach is needed to ensure that the process of integrating veterans into public institutions is as comfortable as possible for all participants. It is important to find a balance of interests between the needs of veterans and the needs of government institutions,' Nataliia Aliushyna said. The Head of the NAUCS briefly outlined the experience of the National Agency's experts in preparing for the cooperation of public servants with this category of employees. This includes, in particular, the relevant Guidelines for HR services in state and local self-government bodies on adaptation and organization of work of veterans in the public service (how to conduct interviews, communication ethics, how to adapt newly appointed veterans, how to prepare the team for the return/recruitment of veterans, how to resolve conflicts, etc.).
The NAUCS has also approved Methodological Recommendations on the development of barrier-free workplace in public institutions. In addition, a number of training programmes have been developed for the reintegration of veterans in the public service, implemented by the High School of Public Governance.
In turn, Ivona Kostyna, Chairman of the Board of the Veteran Hub CF, Yana Voitovska, IREX Programme Manager, and Inna Basysta, IREX Senior Programme Specialist, noted common ground that will form the basis for further cooperation. In particular, it is the formation of a realistic image of veterans in the civil service and local government and assistance in understanding their needs, support for responsible professionals in building internal policies and a decent corporate culture for employees with military experience. The parties identified priority areas of partnership and further steps of cooperation and signed a Memorandum of Cooperation and Partnership.
The meeting was also attended by Yuliia Marushkevych, Director of the General Department for Personnel Management in the Civil Service and Local Self-Government, and Ivan Hrinchenko and Volodymyr Servetnyk, career consultants for veterans.
