Strengthening the institutional capacity of public authorities, implementing the principles of human rights, non-discrimination and combating inequality, as well as cooperation in the framework of technical assistance for the gender-oriented process of European integration and recovery of Ukraine - these topics were discussed during a working meeting of Nataliia Aliushyna, the Head of the National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service, with the leadership of UN Women Ukraine.
Nataliia Aliushyna noted that the NAUCS plans to continue joint programs with UN Women to ensure gender equality and equal rights for women and men, in particular in the context of European integration processes and Ukraine's accession to the EU. This includes the development of thematic training programs: mentoring programs as an effective tool for developing women's leadership in public administration, gender-oriented budgeting, and the implementation of EU standards in the field of gender equality.
The Head of the NAUCS said that in 2023, the Agency and UN Women in Ukraine implemented several joint projects. The procedure for collecting and processing information on the number of civil servants by gender has been improved. The updated register contains detailed gender-disaggregated statistics on the number of civil servants mobilised or on contractual military service, those who have gone abroad since 24 February 2022, and appointed and dismissed civil servants during martial law, including by gender.
Cooperation was also established in the area of professional development of civil servants. The NAUCS, together with its partners, developed an online course on "Identifying and Responding to Conflict-Related Sexual Violence and Assisting Victims". As of 30 January 2024, 3,335 people were registered, of whom 2,455 received the relevant educational certificates.
In addition, a special short-term training program for trainers "Training Technologies for Responding to Conflict-Related Sexual Violence and Assisting Victims" was prepared as part of the Summer School of Coaching Skills in cooperation with the High School of Public Governance. 25 trainers were trained.
In 2023, the online course "Preventing and Combating Sexual Harassment in the Workplace" developed by the NAUCS with the support and assistance of the UN Women Ukraine continued. As of 30 January 2024, 2,872 people were registered for the course, of whom 2,630 received educational certificates.
