Thanks to the joint efforts of the NAUCS and UN Women, gender equality issues in the civil service have been elevated to the level of systemic solutions and practical tools.
This was noted by the Head of the NAUCS Nataliia Aliushyna during the final meeting of the Advisory Committee of the UN Women Project “Transformative Approaches to Achieving Gender Equality in Ukraine.”
According to Nataliia Alyushyna, the projects implemented in partnership have created a solid expert base and trained a cohort of highly qualified specialists in the field of gender mainstreaming and gender-responsive budgeting.
"The National Academy of Public Administration, the High School of Public Administration, in cooperation with the UN Women Representative Office in Ukraine, systematically implement measures aimed at ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men, as well as overcoming all forms of gender discrimination in the civil service. Joint educational initiatives have strengthened the capacity of civil servants to take gender into account in the process of shaping and implementing public policy. In particular, 10 training programs covering relevant topics have been developed and implemented in recent years in cooperation with UN Women. Within the framework of the state order, 2,252 public servants have improved their qualifications through these programs," noted Nataliia Aliushyna.

In order to expand the opportunities for self-education of public servants, online courses have been created in collaboration with UN Women:
Almost 8,000 people have improved their qualifications through these courses.
As part of the Summer School of Coaching, 96 trainers were trained in the following programs:
Separately, Nataliia Aliushyna noted that UN Women is a long-standing co-organizer and participant in the annual Richelieu International Public Service Forum. As part of this event, a separate international seminar is held to discuss topical issues of gender policy implementation. UN Women is also a permanent partner of the All-Ukrainian creative competition among young people, and the nomination “Equal rights and opportunities for women and men” is consistently popular among participants.
The Head of the Agency also recalled the joint work on the thematic educational series “Ukrainian Heroes and Heroines: From the Past to the Present.” It was created with the aim of understanding the history of nation and state building in Ukraine through the prism of the activities of famous personalities. The series can be used both in professional development programs for public servants and for educational purposes in the context of civic education.
In conclusion, Nataliia Aliushyna emphasized the need to support key processes after 2025. She called for support for educational programs focused on gender-responsive recovery, planning, and budgeting for regions and communities, and the integration of a gender approach into the EU accession process.
"I am confident that the synergy of our efforts is the key to the sustainability of the results achieved. We are ready to continue this important cooperation, as the challenges related to gender equality in the context of war and recovery are only growing. Working together has allowed us to achieve transformational results, and we are ready to continue this important work," concluded the Head of the NAUCS.
