Ukraine received the TAIEX Champion award at Institution Building Days – 2026

During the annual Institution Building Days – 2026 in Brussels, Ukraine received a prestigious international award – “TAIEX Champion for Effective Use of TAIEX under Challenging Conditions”.

This award is an acknowledgement of the effective use of the TAIEX instrument, even in the face of the unprecedented challenges Ukraine is currently facing. It highlights the country’s institutional resilience, commitment to reforms and active cooperation with European partners on the path to EU integration.

The moment when the award was presented was particularly meaningful: Marta Kos, the European Commissioner for Enlargement, not only presented the award to Ukraine but also expressed her sincere admiration for the resilience of Ukrainian institutions. She noted that even in the midst of war, Ukraine continues to work systematically, implement reforms and make effective use of the opportunities provided by TAIEX, and emphasised that European Union Member States can also draw inspiration from Ukraine’s experience of resilience and administrative efficiency, and in certain areas even learn from Ukraine.

Ukraine’s positive assessment is based on practical results. Between 2022 and 2026, 173 TAIEX events were organised and held at Ukraine’s initiative, with 6,518 representatives of state authorities participating. These events included expert missions, seminars, study visits and consultations on key areas of public policy, which contributed to the practical implementation of European standards in the work of Ukrainian institutions.

The National Agency of Ukraine on Civil Service and the Centre for the Adaptation of the Civil Service to the Standards of the European Union play a key role in achieving these results, providing strategic coordination, organisational support and effective cooperation between Ukrainian beneficiaries and EU experts. It is through their work that institutional support tools are transformed into actual management improvements.

This recognition once again confirms that, even in difficult circumstances, Ukraine continues to move confidently towards European integration, demonstrating effectiveness, resilience and commitment to shared values.
